Factory GM Pedal Kits
No matter what car, truck, or SUV you drive, it can have as many as three pedals. What each does, you're probably quite familiar with. The accelerator, located on the driver's-side floor, on the far right, speeds your vehicle up when pressed. The longer and further you step on it, the quicker your engine revs, and the faster it goes.
The brake, on the other hand, is the pedal in the middle of your driver's-side floor, just left of your gas pedal. It slows your vehicle down when you press it. (Under the hood, there's more going on with your brakes: a master cylinder shunts brake fluid through brake hoses and brake lines, clamping your brake calipers and brake pads to your brake rotors. This causes friction, puts mechanical pressure on your tires, and turns on your brake lights. Eventually, your vehicle stops.)
If you drive a sports car or another performance vehicle with a manual transmission, though, you probably have a clutch pedal. It lets you change gears when accelerating or braking. Press it, and your engine and transmission temporarily disengage, smoothing out the gearshift process.
